Teacher recruitment in Maharashtra now runs centrally through the Pavitra portal. The process is more transparent for it, but candidates must clear both an eligibility test and an aptitude test.

TET and TAIT — the difference

TET is a qualifying test: you cannot teach without it, but passing it is not a job. TAIT is the ranking test; selection on the Pavitra portal is made on these marks.

So the order is: pass TET, score well in TAIT, then set your preferences on Pavitra.

Eligibility

Primary teaching requires D.El.Ed with Class 12; secondary requires B.Ed with a degree. Both require the corresponding TET. CTET-qualified candidates are also eligible for Kendriya Vidyalayas.

How to prepare

TAIT's syllabus is unlike other competitive exams. Child psychology, pedagogy and aptitude carry the weight — the test is less about what you know and more about whether you can teach it.

Many candidates spend their time on general knowledge and arithmetic and leave pedagogy for last. The mark distribution says the opposite.
